About Me

Growing Up

I was born and raised in Haslett, Michigan, a short drive from Michigan State University. I spent most of my time outside of school at cheerleading practice or at the dance studio, Tari's Cornerstone Studio for Dance. Through cheerleading and dance, I learned quite a bit about myself, hard work and discipline. I also had the opportunity to teach at the dance studio after graduating from Haslett High School in 2011, which confirmed my love for teaching.

My Time as a Spartan

Growing up so close to MSU, I dreamed about the day when I would become a Spartan. In the fall of 2012, I began to live out my dream. During my years as an undergraduate student, I was admitted to Michigan State University's College of Education. In 2015, I graduated from MSU with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry with a minor in Mathematics. Upon completion of this degree, I began my student teaching in Holt, MI at Holt High School in both a Chemistry and Mathematics classroom. I not only had the opportunity to work with fabulous educators, but I had the opportunity to collaborate with my best friend Caeli who was completing her student teaching right across the hall. Having a fabulous support system and a close friend throughout my internship year has allowed me to look back at this experience as one of the most positive, influential years of my life.

Teaching

After completing my internship, I was certified to teach both Chemistry and Mathematics at the secondary level. I accepted my first job in Concord, MI at Concord High School teaching both Geometry and Algebra 1. Although I enjoyed my time at Concord, I chose to accept a different teaching position in Tecumseh, MI at Tecumseh West STEAM Center the following year. In my time at Tecumseh, I have taught both 7th and 8th grade Mathematics as well as a Project Lead the Way course (Medical Detectives). I have had the opportunity to work with an amazing staff and group of students!

Life Outside of Teaching

In my free time, I like to spend time with family, friends and my dog, Breslin. I enjoy visiting friends and fellow Spartans in different cities, attending concerts, and attending Spartan sporting events. I also enjoy taking my dog, Breslin (yes, she is named after the Breslin Center), to the dog park, the lake or checking out new places we haven't been before. Beginning this fall, a majority of time will be spent teaching dance for a close friend at Studio H Dance Company in Mason, MI. Life outside of teaching sure is busy but it is definitely full of fun!
